My Story

Hi, my name is Daniel I am a consultant Volunteer of Soundwell Music Therapy Trust and this is my story and the reason why we require your help.

Daniel's Story

"Mental Health and Me! Growing up as a child and throughout my adulthood I suffered my mental health conditions which resulted from a combination of physical and sensory disabilities, social inequalities and prejudice in society. 

In 2012, I suffered an accident which required treatment for both my physical and mental health.  After my accident, I still struggled with my mental health conditions. Throughout my life I have always been determined to overcome these challenges positively and always 100 percent passionate wanting to help others. Sadly, at this time, I still continued to suffered with my mental health. My mental health team offered many mental health therapies and medication at the time which was not successful.  I reached the point where I was exhausted and at a loss of making a full recovery.   

It was during an appointment with my lovely consultant they suggested Music Therapy as an option, and they suggested that I try Soundwell Music Therapy Trust.  

From the first day I met the Music Therapists, they were so lovely and so welcoming, always listened and understood me as a whole person. Soundwell Music Therapy Trust have always been committed to helping and supporting me with my mental health recovery.  Since my treatment, I can say the Music Therapists and the whole team (Managers, administrators and support professionals) at Soundwell Music Therapy Trust are just amazing! Throughout my client journey all staff work hard, have a caring nature and with 100% dedication they provided me holistic mental health care, which has been a totally life changing experience. Being a part of Soundwell I have found very rewarding and life changing, and giving me purpose in my life.  Now, I am helping others as a consultant volunteer and recently become a trustee which I am very proud to be."

To continue to provide these life changing services for adults with mental health needs I have decided to will attempt 50 lengths of my local swimming pool, September 2024 to raise money. My goal is to raise £1000!  I'm asking for donations to support the amazing work of the wonderful charity Soundwell Music Therapy Trust. I've chosen this charity because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope that you'll consider contributing as a way of celebrating with me.
